A Face Amongst the Crowd
• Comic updates on a Monday-Wednesday-Friday schedule
The Artist doesn't like to spend much time explaining himself. The Artist usually spends most of his time contemplating the meaning of his own existance and the mysterious motive behind the world's reluctance to crown him as Emperor.
Here we see The Artist in one of his rarer moments. The Artist could easily envision this picture as the cover of his eventual debut album, The Artist: The Early Years.
I'll start off by saying, no this site isn't a division of Hallmark, or part of it's delightfully funny Shoebox greeting cards line. It was pointed out to me a while back that the name 'Random Moments' didn't quite direct the imagination towards a comic website. That it was more suited to a place dealing with wedding albums or scrapbook-making. I, however, stuck with it, as I see the comic as small snippets of my imagination, daily events or even friend's rabblings. Moments that stick out, randomly sprinkled like fine grain over a fertile field, aching to receive the shower of seeds.
So what is the premise of this particular comic series and why should you care, you ask? Well, first off, fuck you for being so pushy. Second, a little history: this series was started by a plucky young The Artist while a senior at Widener University. It began with one night's combination of booze, Penny Arcade archives, more booze, and an awesome Logitech mouse to create these 5 charactures of myself and my roommates at the time.
Top Row: Kristian, Dustin, Rob; Bottom Row: Evan, Greg
So from that single image, I used all my powers of persuation at the school newspaper (which i did the layout for) to publish a strip on the last page. Simultaneously, I found a host to put these babies online. And from those humble beginnings, Random Moments was born. Luckily, the paper was only published once, every two weeks, so I had no pressure to create on any steady schedule. The original format of 4 panels stacked like boxes lent itself to the paper format, but doesn't work very well online. Changes needed to be made. And made they were.
Basically the series will revolve around real life friends, some, I hope will add their own little words now and then. But it won't stop there, as The Artist's mind is too full of awesomeness and will continously spill over into the series. And random moments (wink, wink) will occur, based off anything I believe is worth a laugh. I owe a lot to the Penny Arcade's charm, Family Guy's beauty, and The Perry Bible Fellowship's brains, (Seriously, that guy is friggin' hilarious). I would love to one day be up to par with their quality.
More will continue as The Artists sees fit. Pretentious isn't he? Hehe.
